I am Esther Meininghaus, and I am a senior researcher at BICC, Germany. In my research, I focus on different aspects of peace processes, humanitarian aid, and stabilization. From the perspective of political anthropology, I am most interested in how autocracies function differently, and which implications this has for the interaction between local communities and policy. I have specialised on Syria since 2008, including some of the themes on this website. I also teach as an associate lecturer at the University of Bonn.
